Our Dean Prof. Dr. Nevcihan DURU Attended the 40th MDK Meeting

Prof. Dr. Nevcihan DURU, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, attended the 40th meeting of the Engineering Deans Council (MDK), hosted by Uşak University on May 26-27.

As part of the 100th Anniversary of our Republic celebrations, the meeting was themed “Development of Engineering from 1923 to the Present.” In the morning session of the first day of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Günay Anlaş, a faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Boğaziçi University, gave a presentation on “Engineering Education.” Following this, Prof. Dr. Tuncay Döğeroğlu, former Rector of Eskişehir Technical University and former MDK Secretary General, gave a presentation on “Engineering Programs and Sustainable Development.” The new members of the MDK were also introduced.

In the afternoon session, TED University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oya Yerin Güneri gave a presentation titled “The Benefits and Risks of Chat GPT for Learning and Teaching at Universities.” A panel discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Berna Dengiz addressed “Current Problems, Opinions, and Suggestions in Engineering Faculties.” Prof. Dr. Hasan Okuyucu gave a presentation titled “R&D Studies.” Deans in attendance also shared general information and made assessments.

In the final session, MÜDEK Secretary General Serhan Başer presented “MÜDEK Introduction and New Developments in Evaluation Criteria.” The first day also included a visit to the Uşak University Leather, Textile, Ceramics (DTS) Design, Application, and Research Center.
