Academic Contribution to Green and Digital Transformation in Kocaeli Industry

We represented our university as part of the “Workshop on the Transformation of Organized Industrial Zones in Kocaeli” held at the Kocaeli Congress Center. Organized under the coordination of the ŞÛRA Center for Urban Policies and Research and in collaboration with Kocaeli University, strategic planning was conducted regarding the future of the 14 Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) in the region.

Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment Table Discussions

Table 1: Discussions within the Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment focus group centered on conceptual and technical solution proposals aimed at boosting the international competitiveness of industrial zones. The core topics addressed across three sessions were:

  • Current State and Analysis: The most common infrastructure issues encountered in OIZs and the impact of energy costs on production processes.
  • Sustainability and Innovation: Investment opportunities in renewable energy systems, waste recycling, and “Green OIZ” applications.
  • Future Vision and Policies: Setting shared goals to reduce carbon footprints and developing sustainable financing models for infrastructure investments.

Through this workshop aimed at strengthening university-industry cooperation, we continue to provide scientific contributions to the digital and green transformation processes of Kocaeli’s industry.
