A Conversation on the Topic of “Being a Physiotherapist in Turkey” was Held with the Participation of Prof. Dr. Yavuz Yakut.

Our University‘s Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department held an online talk as part of the 8th of April Turkish PhysiotherapistsDay, with Prof. Dr. Yavuz Yakut as a guest.

The interview was conducted by our Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Rabia Terzi and Head of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, Dr. Teach Member Gönül Ertunç Gülçelik also participated.

Our Dean, who made the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Rabia Terzi celebrated the day of all students and physiotherapists with the words “A very sacred professional group that supports people in difficult times and aims to improve their quality of life”.

Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Dr. Teach Gönül Ertunç Gülçelik, a member of the Movement, congratulated his students and colleagues on the occasion of April 8, Turkey Physiotherapists’ Day, saying “We are a group that exists everywhere there is a movement”.

Prof. Dr. Yavuz Yakut, who also served as the President of the Turkish Physiotherapists Association for a while, gave important advice about the profession.

Emphasizing that there are two concepts in communication, empathy and sympathy, Yakut said, We will choose to empathize. Not to sympathize.” The difference between empathy and sympathy is that empathy is the ability to understand the patient and manage this process, while sympathy is the ability to put yourself in the patient’s place.
