Our University<\/span>‘s Physiotherapy<\/span> and<\/span> Rehabilitation<\/span> Department held an online talk as part<\/span> of the 8th<\/span> of April<\/span> Turkish<\/span> Physiotherapists<\/span>‘ Day<\/span>,<\/span> with Prof.<\/span> Dr.<\/span> Yavuz<\/span> Yakut as a guest<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The interview was conducted<\/span> by our Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof.<\/span> Dr.<\/span> Rabia<\/span> Terzi<\/span> and<\/span> Head of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, Dr.<\/span> Teach<\/span> Member G\u00f6n\u00fcl<\/span> Ertun\u00e7<\/span> G\u00fcl\u00e7elik<\/span> also participated<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Our Dean, who made the opening speech, Prof.<\/span> Dr.<\/span> Rabia Terzi celebrated the day of all students and physiotherapists with the words \u201cA very sacred professional group that supports people in difficult times and aims to improve their quality of life\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Dr.<\/span> Teach<\/span> G\u00f6n\u00fcl Ertun\u00e7 G\u00fcl\u00e7elik, a member of the Movement, congratulated his students and colleagues on the occasion of April 8, Turkey Physiotherapists’ Day, saying \u201cWe are a group that exists everywhere there is a movement\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>We will<\/span> choose<\/span> to<\/span> empathize<\/span>.<\/span> Not<\/span> to sympathize<\/span>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prof.<\/span> Dr.<\/span> Yavuz<\/span> Yakut,<\/span> who also<\/span> served<\/span> as<\/span> the<\/span> President<\/span> of the Turkish<\/span> Physiotherapists<\/span> Association<\/span> for a<\/span> while<\/span>, gave important<\/span> advice<\/span> about the profession<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Emphasizing<\/span> that there are<\/span> two<\/span> concepts<\/span> in communication<\/span>,<\/span> empathy<\/span> and<\/span> sympathy, Yakut said, \u201c<\/span>We will<\/span> choose<\/span> to<\/span> empathize.<\/span> Not<\/span> to sympathize<\/span>mphasizing that there are two concepts in communication, empathy and sympathy, Yakut said, \u201cWe will choose to empathize. Not to sympathize.\u201d The difference between empathy and sympathy is that em<\/span>pathy is the ability t<\/span>o understand the patient and manage this process, while sympathy is the ability to put yourself in the patient’s place. It’s very exhausting. We are not onl<\/span>pha<\/span>sizing tha<\/span>t the<\/span>r<\/span>e are two <\/span>concepts in c<\/span>ommunication, em<\/span>pathy and symp<\/span>athy, Ya<\/span>kut said, <\/span>\u201cWe<\/span> will ch<\/span>oose to empathize. Not to <\/span>kills.”<\/p>\n

The conversation<\/span>,<\/span> to which students<\/span> from the Physiotherapy<\/span> and<\/span> Rehabilitation<\/span> department<\/span> also<\/span> contributed<\/span> with<\/span> their questions<\/span>, ended<\/span> after<\/span> the video<\/span> prepared<\/span> by the department students for<\/span> April<\/span> 8th<\/span> Turkish<\/span> Physiotherapists<\/span>‘ Day<\/span> was<\/span> shown<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
